This is Why TransJakarta is so Important, my man!

TransJakarta program that is applied by a present governor is bringing clear changes toward Jakarta City. People can see that Jakartan citizen nowadays is quite easy to move from the north to the south of Jakarta, even move from the west to the east of Jakarta. That just a really simple overview of how effectively does TransJakarta program make people do everything easier. In addition, not only impact to social life, TransJakarta also gives a significant impact to economic and people’s habit. For one reason, it can highly decrease the car usage. Secondly, it opens a wide job field for unemployment. Lastly, it extremely increases the annual revenue of Jakartan Government. That is why I believe that next Jakartan Governor should never erase the Transjakarta Program.

First of all, TransJakarta bus is a very effective program to decrease the car usage that can cause a traffic jam. Besides its capability to bring 85 people, TransJakarta bus also can be found everywhere. According to Jakartan Government, the total unit of TransJakarta buses is 2,475 units and it will be added again at 2017. With that huge amount, people will easily find TransJakarta buses and prefer to use it rather than use their own car(s). But why they prefer to use it in a specific reason? Based on TransJakarta Supportive Crew, they mention that day by day the passenger of TransJakarta is always increasing. More and more people start using it since it provides complete facilities with the simple payment system. In addition, another specific reason of why people prefer to use it is because it uses its own route to go, so there will be fewer possibilities for people to get stuck in the traffic jam. With those reasons, the car usage will be decrease and impact to the reduction of a traffic jam.
Secondly, TransJakarta can open a wide job field for unemployment. According to Jakarta Job Recruitment statistic, since 2011 TransJakarta Program has successfully absorb more than 12% Jakartan 20-25 years old unemployment. That achievement brings very significant impact on pressing unemployment number in Jakarta. Moreover, if the number of the bus itself is added, it could open wider job field since, in fact, one bus need two drivers and two staffs, however, in the station it needs more than 5 staff. Imagine, if government add 100 units of TransJakarta buses, so there will be 900 people that could be employed. That is a very big number of people to employ, so it potentially could decrease unemployment in Jakarta year by year.
Lastly, TransJakarta program extremely increases the revenue of Jakartan Government. Some people may think that it will cost cheaper when using TransJakarta bus than other public transportations, so how government get equal revenue to afford it? In fact, that just the wrong logical thinking. The government even gains so much more money than what people ever calculated. Last year at 2015, Jakartan Government Secretary reported that TransJakarta success to collect 1,2 Trillion in average for every 100 buses. Moreover, according to Jakartan Finances Department, they stated that TransJakarta is the second contributor to subsidy expense behind taxes revenue in the first position. Those things happened because all the passengers should pay the same cost even they go to the same location. For instance, a person orders a car to go to PGC from Tebet, then the car wastes a litter gasoline and he pay for Rp. 4000,-. However, when two people order the same car with the same start and finish, both of them should pay for Rp.4000,- so the total will be Rp.8000,-, even the car wastes the same amount of gasoline when it accompanies one person. Imagine, if one day there are 1000 people who use one TransJakarta bus, so the revenue will be Rp.4.000.000,-, and there are still thousands bus again that have the same calculation.
In conclusion, there are no absolute reasons that Jakartan Government should erase the TransJakarta program. If the government still applies this program for the next years, the traffic jam will reduce, the number of jobless will decrease, and the government can give high support of subsidy by providing more public facilities. If this happens, Jakarta will become the good city with a prosperous citizen as proper living in a capital city.
